Scramble For Africa and Why Congo Is The Perfect Example Of Neo-Colonialism

In this segment from www.BlackSlaveRevolts.com Map II, which highlights acts of resistance by Black people across the world, Dr. Ife Williams shares the powerful story of Patrice Lumumba.

Patrice Lumumba was a brave leader from the African country of Congo. He helped his people fight for freedom from Belgium, which had ruled Congo for many years. In 1960, he became the first Prime Minister of an independent Congo. Lumumba believed that all Africans should be free and treated with respect. Sadly, he was killed in 1961 for standing up for his people, but his courage still inspires many today.
