Mutabaruka Speaks “The Christianity You Know, Did Not Start In Africa”

In this reasoning Rastafari dub poet, musician, actor, educator, and radio host Mutabaruka explains the role the First Council of Nicaea and Constantine played in the shaping of modern Christianity. He says, “Constantine had an empire that stretched from Constantinople, way over that side, and there was a time when he decided how to make Christianity more palatable to the world. Not like the Jews did, nor like this other group; what happened was that there was a group of people who was fighting against the Greco –Roman Empire, so they created a lot of what were called Zealots and they fought against the Roman Empire with violence. Now, the Romans needed to pacify these people, and the only way they could pacify these people was to attack their belief system and their culture.” Mutabaruka goes on to speak about the difference between the mythical Jesus and the historical Jesus.
