In this reasoning dancehall legend Bounty Killer speaks about being shot at age 16 and how that experienced changed his perspective.
Bounty Killer also touches on the negligence of the mentally ill, elderly, and physically disabled members of Jamaican society.
Bounty Killer goes on to speak about his struggles with pride and how he matured over the years.
I am very impressed. Bounty Killer is extremely analytical and intelligent. His summary assessment on gun violence and mental health issues is comprehensible. As a Jamaican, I can resonate and I do understand his POV (point of view). Too many people with chemical imbalances and traumatic experiences coupled with poverty; the lack of money and opportunities in JA will breed eratic behaviors if left untreated. I now reside in America and even the drugs used to treat the mentally ills here can help but can also create another issue hence most times psychiatric drugs can be counter-effective. As we all know from ancient times productivity and giving human the opportunities to contribute to their well being and family household as well as to society from WORK; the ability to EARN a salary and to provide for the family. This gives stability and serves as cognitive behaviorial therapy for one’s better health. An individual can go mad/crazy /mentally/emotionally distraught being hungry. It is a very SAD revelation for the majority HAVE NOTS in Jamaica to live among the minority HAVES. This is just one side of my POV not to take away from Bounty Killer’s lecture on Mental health creating the violence in present day Jamaica. There is also the increase of suicidal rates due to LACK and Suffering. A Hungry man can be an Angry man. I pray Jamaica can develop a WELFARE System similar to assist the poor, the elders, the disabled and mentally ill to get proper housing, food, job trainings and opportunities as well as financial and medical assistance. At least the poor in America get free food money, free education and health care also unemployment benefits if they are laid-off their jobs.. It is unfair unjust unmerited to live among the 10% wealth and 70% poverty as that would drive anyone insane. The Government as the power to change the system FOR THE PEOPLE. I know the Politicians are remodeling the surface of Jamaica to attract Tourist but what about changing the infrastructure of providing opportunities for the POOR PEOPLE and putting the Deportees into a community away from the Mass population as many crimes are also at the hands of these deported people from the USA and UK.
